CA vs UAE

Having been back in Canada for about 5 days now, I have been saying a lot of "it's so nice that people here..." and "I really missed how everyone here..." So, following these thoughts, are some lists for you my friends.

10 Awesome things about Canada (in no particular order)

1. Cold, fresh, air. You have no idea how much you miss it till it's gone.

2. People hold doors for you, even if that means they have to stand there and wait for you to get to the doorway.

3. People chat. Men and women. Old and young. With no intentions other than to chat. This doesn't really happen in the UAE.

4. Free speech. Yesterday at Yonge and Dundas square there were the dudes handing out Black History newspapers, a dude yelling about Jesus and a man quietly passing out flyers about Islam. All in the same square together.

5. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays. Every store person says one or the other. It's nice.

6. Availability of pork. Enough said.

7. People say please and thank you, to each other in the street and to service workers.

8. People throw out their own garbage, pump their own gas and take care of their own children.

9. Recycling!

10. Nobody stares at me. I like blending in every once and a while :)

10 Awesome things about the UAE (in no particular order)

1. Sun all the time. Even in December.

2. Palm trees and camels, everywhere!

3. Really affordable massages, manicures and pedicures.

4. People who love their faith with such reverence and joy, but do not try to push it onto others.

5. No taxes!

6. Generosity of Emirati people when it comes to food. You will never go hungry if an Emirati is nearby. (they are like the Italians of the Middle East!)

7. Beaches everywhere. I love me a good beach.

8. Patchi chocolate. It is the best chocolate ever and it is all over the UAE.

9. Super awesome concerts (USHER!)

10. The opportunity to travel to so many amazing places!
