So if you have read this blog before you know this country is full of craziness. You can buy serious narcotics, antibiotics and birth control over the counter at pharmacies with no prescription. People often load up on cheap, accessible meds and take them home.
One of my friends, who is very into healthy living, orders organic vitamins from an online site. They get delivered to the local post office where she picks them up. She tried to pick up her package of vitamins and they told he she could not take them because they might be "illegal drugs" and that they would have to have a doctor come to the post office to examine their contents before releasing them. They said "the doctor will be in tomorrow" so this is clearly a regular occurrence.
They emailed her today saying that, luckily, her "drugs" checked out and she can go pick them up. Now excuse me while I go buy a bottle of booze from one of the many unlicensed liquor stores where they won't even give you a receipt because they are so shifty. But don't you dare try to smuggle in that Vitamin D supplement. Yallah, just go out in the sunlight. Is legal there.

Serious narcotics are easily available? I can't decide if this is good or bad...more fun than Vitamin D anyway ;)
